“You want me to tell you what my husband thinks?” – asked a Congolese university student to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton yesterday. She temper flared while the male student asked Hillary for her husband’s (Bill Clinton) thoughts on an international financial matter. Mrs. Clinton is the 67th US Secretary of State.
Hillary replied skeptically as soon as the student asked her about “Mr Clinton” thinking of World Bank concerns on a multibillion-dollar loan offer from China to the Congo. Mrs Clinton replied sharply “My husband is not secretary of state, I am.” Former first lady added “If you want my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I am not going to be channeling my husband.” However, the question was unanswered because the mediator of that event rapidly moved on.
It was happened one week after ex-US President Bill Clinton traveled to North Korea and secured the discharge of two detained US journalists. The incident bagged the limelight from his wife Hillary’s first trip to Africa. Mrs Clinton was obviously displeased by that question at a town hall forum in Kinshasa.
